Defence Forces Open Day Fitzgerald’s Park Sunday 10 June 2018

The Defence Forces Open Day in conjunction with Cork City Council will take place in Fitzgerald’s Park this Sunday the 10th of June from 12pm to 4pm. Highlights will include weapons displays, tactical demonstrations, unarmed combat display, Air Corps Flypast, Band Recital and much much more.Military Archives, the primary custodians of historical material from the revolutionary period, will also be on site to offer guidance to people who may wish to research their own family's military history.

Commenting on the event Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Tony Fitzgerald said: “The Lord Mayor and Cork City Council is delighted to partner the Irish Defence Forces Open Day in Fitzgerald’s Park. This is a unique chance for the public to see all the different elements within the defence forces everything from combat displays, Air Corps flypast and pipe band recitals. I am so proud of the work of the Defence Forces and this event will give the public an opportunity to see at first hand the work they on behalf our citizens and country.We are fortunate in Cork to have such a gem as Fitzgerald’s Park and see it being used for what promises to be a great family day out!”   Serving members, veterans and all members of the public are invited to attend, with excellent photographic and interview opportunities throughout.    Time/ Date: 12-4pm, 10 June 2018 Location: Fitzgerald Park
